Abstract
Enlarging masses during or after chemotherapy of malignancy is thought to be the evidence of malignancy recurrence. However, growing teratoma syndrome is defined as enlarging masses of benign mature teratoma following chemotherapy for malignant germ cell tumors. Typically, the histology shows a mature teratoma without any malignant element and it is associated normalization of initially elevated serum tumor markers. We present a case of recurrent growing teratoma syndrome originating from an immature teratoma of the ovary during chemotherapy in a 10-year-old girl.
